Short term projects

Project/ thesis work – in partial fulfillment of BTech, MTech, MSc or MPhil.

Requests must accompany:

  1. Bonafide certificate or forwarded through the candidates' HOD / Principal,
  2. Brief bio data (not exceeding two pages) and
  3. Indicate tentative period of project work.
  4. For online requests, attach scanned documents.

An undertaking from the Head of the Department or Principal of the college is mandatory and should be submitted along with the request for admission of the student.

  • All correspondences from SUGARCANE BREEDING INSTITUTE will be made only to the official address of Head of Department or Principal of the college.
  • Period: Minimum 3 months
  • Institutional Fees: Rs 20,000/-(Rupees Twenty thousand) for 3 months and Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees thirty thousand) for 6 months.
  • Fees to be paid through credit/debit cards, cash at the Institute or by Demand Draft drawn in favour of "THE DIRECTOR, SUGARCANE BREEDING INSTITUTE, ICAR UNIT, COIMBATORE".
  • Project work scope: LIFE SCIENCES - biotechnology, plant breeding, plant tissue culture, plant physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, soil science / chemistry, entomology/ Nematology/Zoology, food science etc. and a few areas in social sciences
  • Participants need to make their own arrangements for accommodation and food.

In-house Training

Applying for In-House-Training at Sugarcane Breeding Institute

  • Eligibility: Any undergraduate / Post graduate/ PhD student
  • Scope of the training: Any of the following areas in LIFE SCIENCES – plant biotechnology, plant breeding, plant tissue culture, plant physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, Soil science / chemistry, food science, entomology/ nematology / zoology etc. and a few areas in social sciences.
  • How to apply: Requests for training must be addressed to 'THE DIRECTOR, ICAR-SUGARCANE BREEDING INSTITUTE, COIMBATORE 641007, TAMIL NADU, INDIA.
  • Students can apply for this exposure programme any time during the year but the allotments are subject to the actual vacancy. Requests can also be sent through e-mail or fax.
