Sugarcane Breeding Institute closely coordinates with Sugar industry in the country in formulating the research policies and also for extension of technologies developed by this Institute in sugarcane production system. Every year, meetings of Sugarcane Research and Development Workers are being held to get feedback from the sugar industry of different regions on the problems and prospects with regard to sugarcane agriculture. These meetings are well attended by cane developement officials of all sugar factories and interactive sessions are held between the Scientists of this Institute and the R & D workers of the sugar industry.

A number of model training programmes are being held from time-to-time to train cane officials from different states to impart the latest knowledge gained on sugarcane production system. These training programmes are sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India.

List of Participants for the National Level Model Training on Sugarcane Production Technology - 2014-15

Training programmes organized in the recent past are as follows:
  • Two days training program on 'Sugarcane technologies for increased productivity' for 25 Agricultural Extension Officers from Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Karnataka at our institute during 24-25 September 2013.
  • 18 officials of State government and sugar mills from Bihar were trained on Sugarcane Production Technology during 10-14,2011
  • Two State Level Training Programmes on 'Sugarcane Production Technology' were conducted during Jan 31-Feb 4 and Feb 14-18, 2011 for the benefit of officials of Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Orissa. Forty officials were trained in these programmes
  • A national level Model Training Programme on "Scientific crop management practices for increasing sugarcane productivity" was conducted during August 24-31, 2010 with 16 participants from all over India.
  • A state level training programme on sugarcane technologies for State Govt. officials of Uttar Pradesh was organized during July 24-31, 2010.
  • A two day training programme on "Sugarcane agriculture for jaggery production" was organized for the benefit of 15 farmers from Marayoor, Idukki district, Kerala during Feb 4-5, 2010.
  • Apart from these, 5 one-day training programmes were organized for various agencies sponsored by sugar industry during 2010.
