The Institute-Village interface is one of the major components of Extension Research. Periodic training programmes are being conducted to the sugarcane farmers in the villages in and around Coimbatore district. A number of field days have been organized by this Institute in nearby villages wherein sugarcane production technologies are explained to the farmers by interactive meetings involving the Scientists of the Institute and the local farmers. A number of front-line demonstrations had been conducted in the villages over the past several years demonstrating improved crop production technologies to the farmers. The following is a list of most recently conducted demonstrations in the nearby villages -

In addition a number of training programmes have been arranged in the Institute to the benefit of farmers on various production technologies.

More recently the Instituite arranged for two Video Conference meetings to enable coconut and arecanut farmers from a nearby village to interact directly with the Scientists of Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod (Kerala). About 60 farmers benifitted through these programmes.
