Sugarcane Breeding Institute is a unit of ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), New Delhi. ICAR follows GoI rules mutatis mutandis, besides Agricultural Research Service rules, Technical Service Rules specially designed for Scientists and Technical Personnel of ICAR. The Institute follows the rules, regulation, and instructions as followed by ICAR, and as indicated in the manuals and records of ICAR, New Delhi.

Linkages and Collaboration in India and abroad:

The Institute has established linkages with all ICAR Institutes, Sugarcane Research Centres (24 Nos.) of State Agricultural Universities under All India Coordinated Research Project (Sugarcane), Other central Institutes, Department of BioTechnology/GoI, TNPL (a Govt. of Tamil Nadu undertaking) and sugar industry in critical areas in emerging technological for deriving maximum benefit. Collaboration with International Research Institutions has been established for human resources development through short term training programmes for the Scientists and Technical Personnel.
