Significant contribution

  • Earlier worked at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai for over 12 years, where taught Masters and Doctoral courses in Aquatic Environmental Management. Guided 10 students as Major Guide and 27 as Co-guide for their master degree dissertation work, and also guided five students as Co-guide for their doctoral research. Specialized in nutrient cycling and pollution monitoring in aquatic environment

World Soil Day organized

World Soil Day – 2024

  • World Soil Day was organized on 05th December 2024 at Erode in collaboration with Ponni Sugars (Erode) Ltd., Erode on 05 Dec 2024 as one of the coordinators. About 100 participants, including farmers, cane development officers, students and scientists, participated in the programme. Organized series of events such as essay competition for college students and drawing competition on the theme “Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage” for Ponni Nursery & Primary school, Odapalli, Erode, Soil day 2024 Special Lecture and prepared a. A ready reckoner on “A field guide on soil sampling and ready reckoner for sugarcane nutrient management”, 72 Soil Health Cards and Extension Brochure on “Technology integration for maximizing profitability in sugarcane production system (Tamil)” and distributed to the farmers participated in the World Soil Day programme.

World Soil Day – 2023

  • Organized “Farmers awareness campaign on Soil and Water: A Source of Life on World Soil Day 2023” as one of the coordinators. Delivered the lecture on “Healthy soil and quality water for sustainable sugarcane production” and also stressed the importance of soil and water testing. About 100 participants including farmers, scientists and cane development staff from Annur block of Coimbatore district actively participated in the programme.

Establishment and maintenance of demonstration plot

  • A demonstration plot to develop complete package of practices for sustainable sugarcane production christened as Sugarcane Settling Transplanting Technology was established and demonstrated to farmers and visitors during 2018-2024.
