The design patent for the “Soil Moisture Indicator” (SMI) is owned by the applicants K. Hari, D. Puthrapradap, K. Sivaraman, P. Rakiyappan, P. Singaravelu, A. Ramesh Sundar, and P. Murali. The patent numbers are 231435, 231434, 231433, and 231432. A total of 23 commercial companies, including KSNM Marketing, Tech Source Solutions, Nagarjuna Agrochemicals Pvt. Ltd., Parashar Agrotech, Gayathri Agri Inputs, Farm Tech, and GT Biosciences, have commercialized the Soil Moisture Indicator. Approximately 2.5 lakh units have been sold to farmers and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) for water conservation.
